    Multiple Vitamin-Mineral Dietary Supplement

Food Supplement with Vitamins and Minerals

This professionally formulated, multiple vitamin-mineral dietary supplement provides the full range of vitamins and minerals essential for human nutrition. Clinical research suggests that these nutrients support human metabolism at the cell and tissue levels (“homeostasis”), to help optimize organ functions, and promote the body's wellbeing.
Modern living subjects the body to everyday stresses that tend to deplete vitamins and minerals from the cells and tissues. In addition, modern food processing techniques can deplete vitamins and nutrients from certain foods. The ingredients in this formulation are carefully chosen for their capacities to be effectively absorbed and fully utilized for their metabolic functions.
Vitamin A (as retinyl palmitate). This nutrient is crucial for the thin, delicate cell layers that line the body’s inner passages. Such epithelia line the intestinal tract, lungs, and sinuses, and are the first line of defense against infection or chemical toxins. Vitamin A also facilitates the body’s capacity to produce antibodies and new immune cells that support our immune defenses. This formulation omits beta-carotene since it is not readily converted to vitamin A.
Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid). Besides being a potent antioxidant this nutrient is an essential cofactor for a variety of enzymes that make chemical transmitters in the brain, neutralize toxins in the liver and help synthesize large molecules of collagen to make connective tissues. Vitamin C is also fundamental to healthy immunity. As a versatile antitoxin it helps the body conserve glutathione, vitamin E, and other protective nutrients.
Vitamin D (as D3, cholecalciferol). The skin can make this vitamin, but most people do not get enough sun exposure to make optimal quantities of it. The body converts vitamin D3, its most potent form, into a hormone-like nutrient that is essential for cardiovascular health, immunity, and optimal functioning of virtually all the organ systems. Bone strength and resistance to fracture are highly dependent on healthy vitamin D status. This formulation supplies the full Daily Value of vitamin D in one capsule.
Vitamin K (as K2, menaquinone-7 or MK-7). Beyond its long-established importance for healthy blood coagulation, this vitamin is crucial for healthy calcium metabolism. It is required to move calcium into bone and thereby make it less available to form unhealthy deposits in the heart, blood vessels or kidneys. It is also involved in the generation of energy by the mitochondria within our cells. Vitamin K2 is far more potent than Kl, and menaquinone-7 (MK-7) has the highest measured K2 activity.
Thiamin. This vitamin (formerly called “vitamin Bl”) is essential for the cells to make energy and to metabolize amino acids and carbohydrates (including blood glucose). Having adequate thiamin is especially important for managing the modem high-carbohydrate diet, so that deficiency of this vitamin is now associated not just with the classic “beri-beri” condition but also with so-called “high-calorie malnutrition”.
Riboflavin. This vitamin (formerly “vitamin B2”) is essential for our cells to make DNA, the substance of our genes. It is also an essential cofactor for many enzymes that make energy, including in the mitochondria of our cells. Riboflavin is also essential for an enzyme that helps conserve glutathione, the master antioxidant within our cells. Further, riboflavin supports enzymes that recycle essential folate and activate vitamin B6.
Niacinamide. This is a metabolically active form of niacin (“vitamin B3”) that does not have niacin’s
troublesome skin flushing effect. Niacinamide is readily converted to various enzyme cofactors that are essential for energy generation and utilization. Its deficiency is linked to fatigue and other conditions of pellagra, and it is readily depleted by excessive alcohol intake or by smoking, suggesting that daily supplementation is imperative.
Vitamin B6. This vitamin is essential for at least 100 enzymes that are involved with the metabolism of amino acids, fatty arids, and carbohydrates. It is vital for the early development of the brain and for the actions of various nerve transmitters.
This formulation includes pyrixodoxal-5’-phosphate, the most active form of vitamin B6 in human cells.

Folate (as MethylTetraHydroFoIate, MTHF) (Quatrefolic®). This vitamin is essential for assembling and maintaining DNA, genes, and chromosomes; for brain transmitters that support healthy mood; for the insulation of nerve cells (“myelin”); and for producing melatonin, the body’s major sleep hormone. Folate is also a major source of the methyl group used by diverse enzymes to manage blood homocysteine levels. Drinking and smoking deplete folate, as do many pharmaceutical preparations. A common gene mutation (“C677T”) impairs an enzyme essential for converting food folates or folic acid into metabolically active folate. The MTHF in this formulation is identical to the body’s active form, and effectively bypasses the C677T genetic block.
Vitamin B12 (as hydroxocobalamin and methylcobalamin). This vitamin works closely with folate to support methyl metabolism and the recycling of homocysteine. The absorption of B12 can suffer marked decline with age. This formulation supplies the two most active and well-utilized B12 forms at high potency to help ensure effective absorption and utilization.
Biotin is structurally built into at least five enzymes, some of which help regulate DNA structure and gene activity. It also is essential for the mitochondria to make energy. Biotin deficiency is relatively common—smoking, certain pharmaceuticals and raw foods can deplete its levels, as can pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Pantothenic acid (formerly “vitamin B5”) is vital to make coenzyme A (“CoA”), a fundamental metabolic factor. CoA is needed for making amino acids, proteins and hormones, as well as for metabolizing fats into fatty acids and phospholipids to build cell membranes, which facilitate most fundamental life processes. Freezing, canning, and refining deplete this vitamin from foods. Deficiency leads to intestinal, nerve and blood sugar problems.
Magnesium and Calcium. These two dietarily essential minerals each have actions that help balance the other. However calcium is relatively abundant in the diet whereas magnesium is relatively lacking. This formulation therefore supplies an excess of magnesium over calcium, to help make up the dietary shortfall and ensure sufficient magnesium intake. The magnesium citrate in this formulation is relatively well absorbed, unlike the magnesium oxide used in many vitamin formulations.
Zinc. This mineral is essential for more than 300 enzymes involved in the metabolism of DNA and other nucleic acids, fats and carbohydrates as well as other nutrients, and for the key antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase. It is essential for healthy immunity. Its deficiency is linked to reduced growth rate, delayed sexual maturation, increased vulnerability to infections, behavioral changes, skin problems, and hair loss. A healthy pregnancy requires adequate intake of zinc.
Copper is also essential for the superoxide dismutase enzyme, and has a mutually balancing type of metabolic relationship with zinc. Copper is also essential for energy generation by the mitochondria, brain production of certain transmitters and hormones, connective tissue strength, blood vessel formation and healthy blood coagulation.
Manganese is essential for another superoxide dismutase enzyme, this one located within the mitochondria and helping to regulate oxygen free radicals very close to their point of production. This mineral is also involved in the metabolism of cholesterol, carbohydrates, amino acids and in the production ofbone matrix components (proteoglycans).
Selenium. Having unique electronic properties, this mineral is specifically required by at least 25 “selenium proteins”. These include the glutathione peroxidase enzymes that help protect against oxygen free radicals, and other enzymes that help regulate healthy gene activation, protein synthesis and cell-to-cell communication. Another family of selenium proteins helps regulate iodine metabolism and healthy thyroid hormone production. Still others help manage muscle development and immune functions.
Molybdenum. At least four enzymes require this mineral to detoxify sulfites and bisulfites. These potentially toxic sulfur compounds are generated from breathing sulfur dioxide, a common environmental air pollutant and from the body’s normal metabolism of sulfur. Used widely as preservatives, sulfites are often sprayed onto vegetables at salad bars, added into wines, vinegars, and other foods, even used to preserve medical products. Molybdenum enzymes are closely allied with the body’s antioxidant defenses.
Chromium (as picolinate). This mineral is essential for blood sugar management, including healthy insulin action. The chromium picolinate used in this formulation is very well absorbed, and it is suggested in clinical research trials to support healthy blood sugar management as well as cardiovascular and brain functions.
Iodine is an essential component of the thyroid hormones that are involved in the core regulation of many key metabolic processes and biochemical pathways, including protein synthesis without which life would grind to a halt. Iodine also is used by the immune system as part of its panoply of defenses.
Vitamin E (as natural mixed tocopherols). This nutrient is the major antioxidant located within cell membranes, where it protects the fatty acids, phospholipids, enzymes, and other membrane molecules such as coenzyme Q10 (“CoQ”) from damage by reactive “free radicals” or other toxic agents. This formulation provides approximately equal amounts of alpha- tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol, the two vitamin E forms most commonly found in human cells.
Lutein. This is a carotenoid nutrient that helps protect the retinal tissue of the eye against free radicals generated from light entering the eye. Though not technically proven a vitamin, clinical research suggests lutein to be very important for healthy vision.
Other nutrients in this formulation include potassium, an important electrolyte; boron, which supports calcium and magnesium metabolism; and silicon, which supports connective tissue and bone integrity.
Ultra AB Multi Complex is ideally suited for health professionals and consumers who opt for nutrients that have the highest potency, purity, and effectiveness. This product is free of gluten, yeast, wheat, com, dairy, sugar, starch, artificial coloring, or flavoring.
